Summer.  A three-month vacation from the stress of  teachers, tests, and technology!  Summer provides us the opportunity to unwind and prepare for the year ahead. Whether  traveling or attending summer camp, Posnack students everywhere embarked on great adventures with their friends and  families.

A few students demonstrated their love for sports by signing up for the 2017 Maccabi Games in Albany, New York. Ahava Greenbaum, Ariel Fishman, Sabrina Fedida, Talia Levy, Emalee Barr, Olivia Erlich, and Maya Silverberg all chose to spend their summer dedicating themselves to their favorite sport: basketball. They represented the Fort Lauderdale delegation from the David Posnack JCC. The girls played against Israel, Central Jersey, Albany, and other teams during the trip and  ultimately won a silver medal!

“Israel is such an amazing place and I am so glad I had the opportunity to visit this summer,””

— J. Levin

A plethora of Posnack students spent their summer traveling the world. Some Posnack students traveled with their families, some alone, and some even traveled with special programs. Jakob Levin, Editor-in-Chief at the Posnack Pulse, traveled to Poland and Israel with the Ramah Israel Seminar. It is a six-week program, focusing on the study of Israel and its history. “Israel is such an amazing place, and I am so glad I had the opportunity to visit this summer,” Jakob commented about his experience. Emma Grungold went on the USY on Wheels Program. She went on a six-week road trip around the U.S.. Other students traveled to other exotic countries, such as England, Ireland, Scotland, Mexico, Peru, Costa Rica, Spain, Italy, Mexico, and South Africa.

Choosing to dedicate their summer helping the community instead of traveling, a few students volunteered their time at summer camps or community service projects. Camp Kadima is a camp right next door at the David Posnack JCC. Maya Vanunu, Sabrina Emano, Lauren Behar, Aaron Sarner, Jenna Sarner, and Kayla Marks were camp counselors.  They provided entertainment and watched over the campers during the day. About her experience, Maya Vanunu said: “It was an amazing experience! I especially loved the new friends I made and I hope to continue going.”

The summer of 2017 was amazing and the countdown for summer 2018 has already begun!
