The 2017-2018 school year is in full swing, but it can be a challenge to adjust to your new schedule. Managing all eight classes along with extracurricular activities can be difficult at times. • Use an agenda or planner

Having an agenda is essential for high school students!  It is almost impossible to remember what page your math homework was on or what time soccer practice starts. There’s so much you need to remember and writing it down works! You can map out your day, which makes it easier to see when you have free time and when you need to be doing homework.

  • Use a watch

It is easy for time to get away from you, but if you have a watch, you will always know what time it is. You will never be late to class or appointments; you will avoid the stress of having to rush everywhere to be on time, and you will have a way to keep track of time when your iPhone battery dies!

  • Sleep tight!

The benefits of a good night’s sleep will last all day!  Teenagers who are well rested feel more alert and motivated at school.

  • Bring study guides or flash cards everywhere you go

Have a busy day ahead but still need time to study?  Create a study guide, make some flashcards or generate a Quizlet that you can carry with you throughout your busy day. Whenever you have a free moment, for example waiting for your food at lunch or in the waiting room at the doctor’s office, pull out your work and study while you wait. This saves so much time, and you will not have to rush home to start studying.

  • Exercise

Working out releases endorphins, and endorphins make you feel better when you are stressed. Feeling overwhelmed and tired?   A quick workout at home or walking your dog to get some fresh air might be just what you need to get through the day!

These simple and easy steps can keep you organized as well as save you time during your busy high school student schedule. Use these steps when you are feeling stressed and overwhelmed to get yourself on task and ahead of the game!
